Depending on which method is used, the treated area may darken over the next few hours and remain so for a number of days when it may also develop a ‘crust’ as the pigmentation rises to the surface. It is imperative that the area is not picked or damaged as this could result in scarring – the crust will slough off by itself and the pigmentation will lighten or no longer be visible.
You may have some redness immediately after treatment (feeling a bit like sunburn) but this will subside quickly. Occasionally, a client could develop bruising or blistering, but this would settle within a few days. In our experience, this would generally only happen when a client does not tell us about specific medication or fake tan products and demonstrates why the consultation is of the utmost importance. You will be provided with post-treatment advice to follow to avoid any possible side effects and you need to wear sunscreen (min SPF 30) to protect your skin during the course of your treatment.
