Acne is most commonly seen on the face, chest or back and its very visibility is part of the problem for the sufferer, as it is a very public condition.
Acne is caused by the body’s immune system, which can trigger an inflammatory response to the bacteria living in the skin. The bacteria grow predominantly in sebaceous glands producing sebum or oil within the skin and is characteristically seen as redness, blackheads, whiteheads and or pustules/cysts which can become inflamed.
It is important to treat acne in order to avoid the potential for scarring in the future and although cleaning the skin is important to remove excess sebum and reduce the growth of bacteria – this is not always enough.
The unique Lumenis IPL technology on the Stellar M22 system treats your acne with specific wavelengths of light, effectively targeting the bacteria deep within the skin and reduces the inflammation or excess sebum (skin oil) production which characterises acne.
Similarly, our acne scar treatment can help to improve the appearance of scars dramatically, again using the most trusted, non-invasive, proven technology of the Stellar M22, which is used by physicians worldwide.

Using Intense Pulse light therapy, this proven technique is unrivalled at calming red, aggravated and inflamed skin. The light combats the lower levels of your skin, slowing down cell turnover and treating the problem from within.
IPL systems are designed to deliver many rapid, highly intense and controlled pulses – the controlled pulsing prevents thermal damage to your skin and minimises discomfort. The unique technology of the Stellar M22 treats your acne with specific wavelengths of light, targeting the bacteria in the skin, as well as inflamed sebaceous glands that contribute to break-outs.
The light energy destroys some of the sebaceous glands, removes the redness and pigmentation and stimulates the production of collagen (the skin’s support structure) A course of treatments quickly controls symptoms, reduces sebum production, lessens redness, pigmentation and scars, leaving your skin smoother, clearer and less prone to breakouts.
How does the treatment feel?
Each pulse of light feels like a slight sting, tingle or pinch, similar to the snap of a rubber band. No local anaesthesia is required, however, some patients may notice a feeling of discomfort, though tolerate the treatment well. After the treatment, you should be able to work and return to your daily routine immediately.
Can acne be cured?
At present there is no ‘cure’ for acne, although the available treatments are very effective in reducing outbreaks and preventing the formation of new spots and scarring.
We are all individuals and as such, the number of treatments and the results from treatments will vary from person to person. Similarly, due to the varying response of the individual, the down-time, recovery and the longer term results achieved following the treatment will differ from person to person. The information we provide you with is based on the extensive experience we have gained from treating a wide range of clients of differing age and gender.
